Recommendation for Keeping Chicks

Young chicks have high demands on their housing and coop. The most important thing is a warm shelter: Day-old chicks require ambient temperatures above 28°C. Even at night! Therefore, a heat lamp is essential. Young animals at 14 days still need a very warm coop (25°C). If this condition is met, each breed should be provided with special feed. We are happy to advise you on this. Fresh water daily is an absolute MUST. It goes without saying that clean bedding is the basis for healthy animals.

Small garden sheds are best suited as chicken coops for 10-20 animals.

To make keeping chickens in the new coop a success, you should also choose the right equipment. This is the only way to ensure that the animals are kept in a species-appropriate manner and that you enjoy keeping them. You should ask yourself the following questions:

  • How many animals am I allowed to keep in my chicken coop?
  • How big do the feeder and waterer need to be?
  • How long does the perch need to be?
  • What should the perch be made of?

We always have feeders, waterers, and fences in stock. Nests, dropping boards, and perches can be picked up after ordering. We are happy to advise you in a personal conversation.
